LDN - #MarcelCoard, meet #IvanDaSilvaBruhns. Our sale tomorrow evening takes us further back in the 20th century than is usual for us - and these are among the earliest works featured, from 1925 and c. 1930 respectively. This #Coard piece was not believed to exist until it was rediscovered by a curious upholsterer in the Netherlands. This #IvanDaSilvaBruhns is similarly impressive, but in a different way: in the way that the bare feet of the Maharaja of Indore walked on it. This carpet is from Maharaja Yeshwant Rao Holkar II's bedroom in the seminal #Modernist palace #ManikBagh in India. Try and tell us that's not cool.
