LDN - "I always believe that art should... be easy to identify, to figure out, and then easy to find deeper meanings [in] for those who look. But it's up to the viewer to be involved." -
#LatifaEchakhch. 'Tambour 124'', 2012, is
#OnView at
#PhillipsBSQ ahead of our
#NewNow auction tomorrow. The work was created by dropping ink onto a tondo, in a deliberately drawn out process. Drop by drop, the Indian ink forms a deep black circle in the centre of the canvas - evoking an ironic subversion of the tradition of the tondo (the Renaissance/Greek circular painting that is typically mounted in the middle of the ceiling, to represent heaven). Come stare and get lost in the abyss ⚫️ until 6pm.
