KANSAS CITY — Penn State broke the NCAA Wrestling Championships’ all-time scoring record on Saturday night with 172.5 team points after four wrestlers won national titles. Iowa’s record of 170 team points stood for 27 years after the Hawkeyes set the record in 1997, but the Nittany Lions continued their historic run under Cael Sanderson by breaking it. Penn State also broke the score differential record after clearing second place Cornell by 100 points, shattering the previous record of 73.75 points set by Iowa in 1986.
