#CubsCollection: David Ross. On October 24, 2019, David Ross was named the 55th manager in Cubs franchise history. Ross participated in 15 major league seasons as a catcher, playing 883 regular season games with the Dodgers, Pirates, Padres, Reds, Red Sox, Braves and Cubs. Ross knows what it means to be on a winning team. During his career, he advanced to the postseason seven times, winning two World Series Championships. After winning the 2016 World Series with the Cubs, during which he hit a memorable Game 7 home run, Ross retired from the game. He has since been a broadcast analyst for ESPN and held a special assistant role in the Cubs front office for the past three seasons. “I’ve had an eye on this my entire career.
