#HabitatUncoveR3D with _matthewhood Filming on Baffin, the world’s 5th largest island, for the series "Islands" on SkyTV, DP Matthew Hood and team were tasked with capturing the harsh winter conditions that envelop Baffin Island for about half the year. They traveled by snowmobile with a sled in tow, carrying all necessary filming gear, food supplies, fuel, and logistical support. To capture wind and snow storms, they needed a simple setup that would allow them to shoot quickly and opportunistically if any weather or wildlife rolled in. For their setup, they used the RED #HELIUM8K with a CanonUSA CN20 on both long and short legs. The camera traveled built, living in its own padded case in the back of their sled, which could be deployed quickly whenever needed. The days were long, up to 16 hours at times, and traveling 300km/185 miles across the sea ice with strong winds and low ambient temperatures, they were easily getting hit with -30C/-22F, but the camera never skipped a beat.
