There are a few protected spots that do bring hope, and it’s always such a pleasure to be able to get in the water with these majestic creatures that are so vital for the health and balance of biodiversity in our oceans. They’re also just such fascinating creatures! Every year between December and March, pregnant ragged-tooth sharks migrate up North to the warmer protected waters of South Africa’s Sodwana Bay to gestate. Although they calmly sway in the swell of the shallow waters, a battle of dominance takes place inside their uterus where the baby sharks engage in intra-uterine cannibalism, eating each other.
