This defective weapon was fired by a German U-boat (naval submarine) on the attack of ore ships at Bell Island, Newfoundland in 1942. These torpedo’s were designed to explode on the underside of a ships hull - causing the vessels to split in half and sink very quickly. It’s disconcerting to think of the technology that was capable of doing that in 1942 and what the current Navy’s have available at their disposal in the present day. #WWII #History #Torpedo...
