Ted Giffords got a lot of the "topside" footage (the term we use for anything that's above the surface) in Antarctica for Blue Planet II. Ted's worked on tons of documentaries that you would recognize—Planet Earth, Dynasties and Frozen Planet. He has a dream job traveling the world and observing the most beautiful natural phenomena, but it's hard work. You have to be OK with being uncomfortable and then extremely patient on top of that.
