TimLaman takeover [8/8] telling the story of the BBC #PlanetEarth2 shoot in the remote islands of West Papua, Indonesia. Objective: filming the elusive Red Bird-of-Paradise from the top of the rain forest canopy. Here is a close-up of the spectacular male #RedBirdofParadise. I was super impressed with how clean the files were from the #REDEPIC. I was able to get amazing detail in the bird’s feathers like you can see in this tight crop from a frame. I spent three weeks getting up every day well before dawn to climb into the canopy in a couple different trees, and film these birds. They didn’t always show up, so some days, it was a ton of effort for nothing, but when they showed up and displayed, it was really exciting to know I was filming something in a way no one had ever done before. Such a spectacular place, with so much potential for telling the stories of the unique rain forest life there. I hope to be back soon. Thanks reddigitalcinema for the opportunity to do this take...
