Welcome to another
#creaturefeature Friday! Today we’d like to introduce one of our favorite native Florida species (and FSU friends) the Anolis carolinensis, better known as the Green Anole🦎 Yes, you heard that right, this little guy is actually a ‘Nole just like the rest of us! You might see them around campus, lounging on leafy greens or climbing trees. Unfortunately, they are becoming less common because of their more invasive cousin, the Brown Anole. This one was friendly enough to stop by for hammocking and slacklining on Wednesday with Campus Adventures.
Fun fact, Green Anoles are distantly related to iguanas! They can change colors slightly to match their environment, and when they are cold, frightened or stressed they turn brown. You may not see them often, but that doesn’t mean they’re not there.
If you do see these little guys when you’re on campus don’t forget to say Go ‘Noles and let them know you are a fan!
