Our #WeAreOneOcean coalition partner @sustainablecoastlineshawaii joined us at the Vans US Open of Surfing earlier this summer where they were able to engage with over 6000 event fans about plastic pollution and their work to divert waste away from the local landfill! The 'Turn Off The Tap' outreach booth provided education around plastic pollution, an immersive photo booth, and an opportunity for attendees to commit to take action. Throughout the event, SCH diverted 1,446.2 pounds of food scraps, compostable materials, and PLA plastics from entering the traditional waste stream in Huntington Beach. With the help of SCH, 81% of the waste generated from this event will be turned into a valuable resource.
