Today is International #SportDay and we’re thrilled to be joining the @unitednations call for #ClimateAction! Sport can be a powerful tool for bringing people together, raising awareness, and addressing and mitigating climate change. Knowing how the ocean critically influences our atmosphere, and how a changing climate has serious consequences for our coasts and way of life, @wsl was an early @unitednations Sports for Climate Action signatory and is committed to uniting behind a set of environmental principles with @unclimatechange. With this in mind, in 2019 WSL announced a series of sustainability commitments that set a new standard for global professional sports. These commitments - designed to inspire, educate and empower ocean lovers while addressing critical environmental issues included: becoming carbon neutral by offsetting events, business operations, and staff and athlete travel and focusing on overall emission reduction.
