The 2nd beer we ever brewed 13 years ago, it gets its name from the Grimm Brothers fairytale, “The Youth Who Could Not Shiver and Shake”. It also happens to be the best selling beer in our Taproom. Dunkel means “dark” in German but don’t let your eyes deceive you. This crystal clear brown lager drinks lighter than its appearance might suggest. Pleasant aromas of chocolate, toasted bread, and noble hops on the nose. Perfectly balanced flavors of chocolate, biscuit, and earthy hops dance on the palate leading to a a crisp dry finish. This beer has won 4 medals across the Great American Beer Festival, U.S. Open Beer Championship, and the World Beer Cup.
