Here's part two of the Grimm Brothers History interview that Kim Tarbox Bernhardt did with our Founders, Aaron and Don: How did Grimm Brothers get its name? Why Grimm Brothers? Hardly anyone was making German style beers so the young brewery owners saw a marketing opportunity. They all sat around and said if we're going to do German styles, what's our name? After thinking back over all things German, they came up with Grimm Brothers. So many different fairy tales, although some were really dark, they decided to go with it. About a month before they opened, they thought they might already be in trouble. There was a brew pub in Washington State that sent Grimm a cease and desist letter because they had done a series of beers named after some Grimm fairy tales. Enter Jon-Mark Patterson, a Loveland lawyer, who after discussing the situation over a beer, assured Don and Aaron that the Washington brewery couldn't do anything and "we'll diplomatically tell them to go pound sand."
