[People of da:ns] Sugiarti Mustiarjo, Performer for and so we dance, da:ns festival 2021 and so we dance (2021) happened during the pandemic. There was a period where we were afraid of being infected, so we tested ourselves regularly on rehearsal and performance days. In the first few weeks of rehearsals, I was still grieving the loss of a sidekick (Rufus, my employer’s dog). Seeing my friends’ happy faces, their laughter and how they worked as a team gave me strength to overcome my grief. In this project, I was able to be myself, narrate my own life and share my dreams and goals. It was liberating to know that I could create my own dance. The whole experience was priceless.
