Over the month of Red Dot August, we celebrated Singapore in more ways than one. But we also wanted to hear what our artists think, so we posed some of them this question: as a young artist, what hopes/aspirations/dreams do you have for our little red dot in the near future?

The wonderful hellomisslou kicks off this series with her answer:
“This National Day, I’m reminded of the role that artists play in society—if applied purposefully, we are the balm that soothes an aching soul, the glue that mends a divided society, the light that points to a greater hope. We are the words that enlighten, the melodies that embolden, and the stories that inspire.
I am an artist, because I believe we are more than flesh, bones, and pure matter; we are the ideas, the tenacity, the kindness, and the empathy that I experience on a daily basis. My hope for Singapore is that we see that, and my role is to remind us of that—even if you don’t love me back.
Happy birthday, Singapore 🇸🇬❤️”
