Fun fact. These shadow puppets are made of donkey skin while the screen is made of goat skin. Getting under that skin: this is Shadow Puppetry Master Fan, who is the 7th generation Master from the Taishan Shadow Puppet Art Troupe (China). This art form has a history of more than 600 years and was listed as a UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2011. It's usually performed by a single performer who recites dialogue, sings songs, manipulates the puppet, and plays the instruments by his feet, all at the same time!
