Keroncong is one of the traditional music genres of Indonesia. It was first played by people of Portuguese descent who had intermarried with the locals. Today, keroncong is performed on cak and cuk (different types of ukulele), cello, guitar, bass, flute, and violin, accompanying the male or female voices or both. In this show, Indonesian composer Pak Liliek Jasqee leads his Ensemble Keroncong Eljasqee in performances of familiar tunes and new compositions, paying ode to the musical, cultural, and language ties that Indonesia and Singapore share.
