#Onthisday on 12 Jun 1988, Singapore Dance Theatre (SDT), the nation’s premier professional dance company, premiered its inaugural production, Beginnings, choreographed by the late Singapore ballet legend Goh Choo San, at the Victoria Theatre. In July this year, SDT celebrates its 30th anniversary with a gala performance that includes two other works by Goh—Double Contrasts and Configurations. The youngest in a family with three other significant ballet dancers, Goh started his professional dance career at the Dutch National Ballet, and went on to find fame as resident choreographer and artistic director of the Washington Ballet in the US, and became a sought-after guest  choreographer for dance companies in the US and Europe.
