#OnThisDay on 29 Apr 2012, the iconic Dragon Playground located at Toa Payoh, was listed by Flavorwire as one of the 15 most amazing playgrounds in the world. This is the story of who designed that playground: In 1969, Penang-born watercolourist Khor Ean Ghee came to Singapore to look for work after he graduated from the School of Architecture at North London University, UK. That year, besides co-founding the Singapore Watercolour Society with 12 other artists, Khor also found work with the Housing and Development Board as an interior designer. However, instead of interiors, he was tasked with designing landscapes of housing estates, which included the estates’ playgrounds. The rest, as they say, is history.
