That year’s festival involved these three pioneers, and contained a unique milestone—the premiere of Singapore’s first-ever multilingual musical, Samseng and the Chettiar’s Daughter. It was directed by Max Le Blond, and starred the late Leow Siak Fah as The Samseng and Alex Abisheganaden as The Chettiar. And who starred as The Chettiar’s Daughter?
