Happy birthday Uncle Cheow! Our longest-serving staff member Uncle Cheow just turned 80 and we threw a surprise celebration for him last Friday. He's been with Esplanade for 13 years, which means he was with the company before there was even an actual centre to work in! Uncle Cheow was first a caretaker of the Esplanade construction site and when the centre was completed, he became our Traffic Control Officer. And he still is! Here are more fun facts about good ol' Uncle Cheow: 1. In his 13 years of work, he's only taken ONE MC. 2. When people have trouble getting out of our car park, he helps them out with his own CashCard. 3. He used to grow sunflowers in his own garden here, and he would include a few fake sunflowers and face them in the opposite direction of the real ones, just to puzzle anyone walking by. 😂 On Friday, just before he blew out his candles on his special Longevity Bun cake, we asked him to make a birthday wish and he exclaimed: "To live for 10 more years!".
