Hawaiian Ensemble is a campus organization dedicated to promoting and perpetuating Polynesian cultural traditions, specifically through mele Hawai’i (song), hula (dance), cultural workshops, ʻōlelo Hawai’i (language), and various forms of Tahitian music and dance (‘ori tahiti). They cherish Polynesian culture by sharing it with everyone on campus—Polynesians and non-Polynesians alike—thereby supporting the preservation of customs and stories that they are so grateful to learn from. Their cultural chairs play an important role to preserve and showcase Polynesian culture in their club. They help embrace and maintain the authenticity of their traditional dances, cultivating a deep connection and appreciation for the art and history.
