“Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY the outdoors wasn’t neccessary my backyard. It required time, planning and distance. I am so grateful for the tiny green spaces and local parks that provided a space for tiny adventurers like me growing up. As a queer human I simply just wanted to be released from all the stigma. Nature is my sacred place to breathe in, breathe out, learn and let go. The more I spend time in nature I feel incredibly connected to myself and released from titles and boxes society has checked me off in. I feel safe in the outdoors and the more I go the more I embrace who I am and who I am proud to be. I never saw LGBTQ+ representation in the outdoors - it just wasn’t in my scope earlier in my life.
