“Nature doesn’t care if you’re gay” is a common theme for pride in the outdoors, but is that true? Identity, whether queer, left-handed, or bedazzled (although that really would be more fun) doesn’t hold a lot of sway when you’re on a hard climb. But people’s prejudices are reflected in outdoor spaces: access, performance, and representation are not the same for everyone.
