Tanner Tessmann has been a key player for Venezia in their quest to get back to the Italian Serie A. He’s also been the captain of the U.S. U-23s as they prepare for the summer’s Paris Olympics. Speaking to CBS Sports, Tessmann talked about the world class players he gets inspired by. “I can play as an 8 or a 6. I feel comfortable anywhere in midfield,” he said. “Declan Rice has been playing really well for Arsenal and England. Rodri for Man City has been the best player in the Premier League this year. Those are the two players I model my game after.” The 22-year-old was developed by FC Dallas and left for Venezia back in 2021. He also has two caps for the USMNT. Tessmann has a unique story. He is the godson of legendary college football coach Dabo Swinney, and was even recruited to play college football at Clemson, before committing to playing professional soccer with FC Dallas.
