Born in Emberton on June 22, 1978, since childhood Dan Wheldon has the ambition to become a great driver. He battled with Jenson Button in karts, where he wins eight titles before moving to the United States to continue his growth. He debuts in the IndyCar Series in 2002 with Panther Racing, while in 2003 he moves to Andretti Green Racing and wins the Rookie of the year award. In 2004 comes his first win, on the #Motegi oval, and the final standings sees him at the second place behind Tony Kanaan. The following year Wheldon makes #history. He wins the Indy 500, bringing the British flag back to the top step of the podium after only Graham Hill managed it nearly 40 years earlier. He becomes class champion for what will be his only title. He moves to Chip Ganassi Racing in 2006 and during that same year he wins the 24 Hours of #Daytona along with Scott Dixon and Casey Mears.
