Laguna Seca circuit lies on the hills of the Monterey Peninsula and is maybe the most famous and beloved American road course. The track is short: 3 and a half kilometers, but features some hard challenges. The track is fast, but rather a rollercoaster as it follows the natural inclinations of the hills. The Andretti hairpin, the first non flat-out corner, is a double apex downhill, and many drivers either miss the braking point or the first apex. Turn 5, then, is a banked uphill corner, fast but hard to master. And then, at the top of the hill there’s the Corkscrew: a slow chicane with up to an 18% drop in elevation change, going down for a total of 18 meters while driving less than 100.
