As the championship is going towards the end, the drivers are set to start the third last qualifying session of the year. As in every other oval circuit, the drivers go out on track following the reverse order of the championship standings. The session goes smooth and is mainly similar to the first practice of the day, until Rosenqvist looses the car and spins slowly into the tire barrier during his first attempt. Indeed, he skillfully avoids the safer wall, but he will now start at the back of the grid. The Andretti’s cars are all packed together from 9th to 12th. Nevertheless, Grosjean, who qualified first between the Andretti’s, will change his engine and will serve a grid penalty which drops him to 18th for tomorrow’s race. It was a strong qualifying for both Team Penske and Chip Ganassi Racing, with Will Power tying Mario Andretti for all time pole positions record (he takes his 67th pole with an impressive average top speed of 182.727) and Marcus Ericsson qualifying along...
