As you well know, one of the awards to be given at the end of the championship will go to the best rookie of the year. There are six drivers battling it out to excel in this special ranking, and today the fight seems to be anything but a foregone conclusion.  Currently leading the way is a Danish guy who is a product of the Alpine's academy, coming from F2. His name is Christian Lundgaard and today he races for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. He is in 17th place in the overall standings and has two top-10 finishes respectively at Indianapolis and Road America. Trailing by 14 points is David Malukas, a Lithuanian driver with an American passport who races for Dayle Coyne Racing. He is Indy Lights 2021 vice-champion as well as fresh from a ninth-place finish in the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio. A little further back we find three other rookies separated by only 2 points.
