It was a date with destiny for FC Motown. A semi-pro side hosting NYCFC II in the Open Cup. But they’re no strangers to slaying dragons. They’ve pulled off upsets in this storied tournament before, and they consistently have one of the best squads in Jersey. Our very own Icarus Cup champion Josh Schaffer was in there, plus a couple other guys we’ve met here and there over the years. So we were a bit biased going into this one. It’s not every day you get to say you have friends playing in the oldest cup competition in America after all. And that’s what make this tournament so special. The chance for anybody to have a shot at ultimate glory. Even if the result wasn’t what everyone wanted, it was a night we won’t soon forget.
