Last Friday the BJCC board of directors approved a move that will put artificial turf, that is able to be laid over with sod, for the surface in Protective Stadium. Although the surface is more expensive than other options, Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center Authority Board Chairman Dennis Lathem said that this surface “makes the most sense” because it offers the most flexibility. The stadium itself is still on track to be completed by the end of October 2021, said Lathem. #protectivestadium
