"Being an Asian-American means embracing my culture and taking pride in where I come from. I was born in the Philippines and my family and I migrated to the US when I was only 3 years old.
👩🍳 I celebrate AAPI month by learning to cook a new Filipino recipe. I love to cook Filipino dishes at home, it definitely makes up for when I start to feel homesick. I have a lot of favorites, but I enjoy cooking Pancit, Pinakbet and Lechon Kawali.
🍚 My favorite tradition from my culture has got to be boodle fights. It’s comprised of a central mound of food — typically consisting of white rice, a variety of viands (meat or seafood) fruits and vegetables piled on banana leaves to share.
💓 People can be better allies to the AAPI communities by simply learning about the history of Anti-AAPI racism.
