“I am first generation and I am...proud. My parents never got an education past the 6th grade. They are immigrants and speak mainly Spanish. Starting school was difficult as there was not much they could help out academically. It progressively got harder as the years went by. Attending college and being at the place I am today is an accomplishment. It is not easy being away from home; doing something no one in my family has ever done before. However, no matter how hard it gets I push myself a little more each time.
