On this day in 1966, little-known #TexasWestern (now known as University of Texas El-Paso) took on traditional powerhouse Kentucky in the #NCAATournament National Championship game. The Miners made history that night, becoming the first school to win the NCAA title with five African-American players in the starting lineup. By beating Adolph Rupp's all-white #Kentucky team (final score was 72-65) the Miners were instrumental in transforming the game of college basketball. | March 19, 1966 | #GettySport #MarchMadness ncaasports
