“More than 80% of you reported pain with s£x after childbirth. And yes after both vaginal and caesarian births.
This is not ok.
Advice often consists of,
“Drink some wine”
“Use more lube”
“Suck it up”
“Just be on top”
Also - many of you are feeling pressure to be intimate before you’re ready because you’ve been “cleared” at your 6 week postpartum check up (this appointment is more about birth control than actually testing pelvic floor function).
Many are experiencing pain, and then feeling scared and alone, and that breeds shame. Pain with intercourse is a real common problem. It’s called dyspareunia and it calls for help. Women should not simply suffer.
There is help. You are not alone. Please see a pelvic floor physiotherapist. Learn about your pelvic health. Have a candid conversation with your partner about your headspace and your needs. ❤️
Listen to the wegotherepodcast episode we did on this topic with 5 ways to prepare your pelvic floor beforehand ❤️
