Serving in the Guard or Reserves is unbelievably fulfilling and an honor but it can be a challenge balancing the requirements and time commitment with a civilian job. In my almost 24 years in the Navy I’ve been lucky to have some great employers who go the extra mile to support those who serve. For 50 years the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR.mil) has been protecting the rights of reservists and guard members while also recognizing employers who go above and beyond. In 2005, I recognized my boss, then Congressman Jim Nussle, Chairman of the House Budget with the Patriot Award for his support. #tbt #esgr #navy
