Saturday marked the third time that the Oregon Rail Heritage Center had organized the Easter-themed excursion. It’s one of several holiday rides that the center offers throughout the year. This year, the festively decorated train was filled with children and their families as they ate candy and played a Winnie-the-Pooh-themed scavenger hunt. Many people freely walked between the different train cars, while some leaned against the railings of an open-air viewing section and watched the natural landscape of Oaks Bottom roll by. The train cars carrying passengers Saturday date from the 1940s and ‘50s, said Renee Devereux, a spokesperson for the organization. They’re maintained by an all-volunteer crew, as is the vintage diesel engine used to pull them, Devereux added.
