The full Worm Moon rising over the Statue of Liberty on Friday night from Jersey City.
The fact that this photo worked out was pure serendipity. I only realized Friday morning that it would be a full moon that night, and knowing I didn’t have a busy day, I tried to plan a full moon alignment using PlanItPro. With some combination of luck and technological accuracy I was able to plan this exact shot. The next step though, was getting there. My some miracle, we hit almost no traffic on the way, and made it to the site about 10 minutes before the moon started to rise. But, it was cloudy. The other photographs and I were all scared that we would miss the moon behind the clouds, but it was just clear enough along the horizon to get the shot I had planned with the moon acting as a halo for Lady Liberty’s head. This is definitely something I want to do in the future and am going to start planning further ahead of time. I also want to rent a bigger lens for this as well to get sharper images....
