Sleeping under the backcountry stars. October 2021.
I will admit, there were many times where I wish I hadn’t been carrying the extra weight that was my camera equipment while backpacking (almost 6 extra pounds!), but in the end it totally paid off. Because of that, I have landscape photos like this but also so many of laughter and fun with friends. For me, backpacking is an exercise in staying present, and photography may seem counterintuitive to that, but I disagree. Backpacking is not by any means always fun (I got injured on the same trip this photo was taken), but for me, finding the beauty in an experience using my camera when other things may not be going how I want bring me balance and allows me to stay present.
Shot on Sony A7III. 15.0sec, ISO 4000, f/3.5, 18mm. Shot using MeFoto Backpacker Travel Tripod and edited in Adobe Lightroom.
