The Milky Way above ocean waves in Southampton, New York. Single exposure. Whenever I show people this photo, they always ask “what is that?”, which unexpectedly I love. I love the idea that I could photograph the water and sky in a complex and abstract way, that it wasn’t immediately understandable and made people think. The mist coming from the water also adds a nice (unplanned) aspect to the photo. To take this, I positioned my tripod and myself right in front of the water and fairly low to the ground. Taken on Nikon D7000. 13.0 sec, f/3.5, ISO 2500. 18mm.
