Self Love Lesson One. Three years ago I had never heard of “self love”. I always knew you ‘should’ love yourself- but I laughed and rolled my eyes at that possibility. I thought it was too soft- “no one REALLY loves their flaws”. How could I love these legs that jiggle and don’t fit into a size 0? I thought if you hated your body you just learned how to CHANGE it. I’ve never been good in crowds, I don’t really know how to socialize, it takes me a long time to learn, I cry when I laugh, I’m very emotional. - Part of learning to accept and love myself meant unlearning the way I thought. We aren’t born thinking cellulite is ‘ugly’. I took my ‘flaws’ and tried to REPHRASE & REPURPOSE: I reminded myself that these big legs would help carry my sister after her accident when she couldn’t walk. I may be emotional, but I am loyal and I love so hard. I may not be good in BIG crowds but I’m good in MY crowd. It takes me a long time to learn, but I always follow through.
