ACCEL PATTERNING: 1st-7th step step in 40 yard dash will determine ability to run fast 40 times. More specifically, where the 7th step lands determines ability to run sub 4.5 or a pedestrian time. Speed is stride length x frequency. If the length of the stride does not equal to 7 steps @ 11 yards, the athlete does not have the ability to go sub 4.5. In this drill we practice push and drive phase mechanics to create proper shin angles to accelerate consistently through this phase. Any reaching or improper leg recovery will disable the athlete from reaching the 7th step at full speed and proper depth. Lastly, the resistance drills help the athletes reach these angles and apply force with longer ground contacts to produce more power. Contrast is used to unload following a resisted rep. We use this as a mini peak phase (Dakota has workout feb 11). 1) accel patterns x 2 each 2) 3 pt starts x 3 3) resisted 3pt x 4 + unloaded x 4 #SpellmanPerformance #speed #nfl #nike #2017nfldraft dakotap9 ...
