The Great Shakeout 2022 🪨 ••• The Great California Shakeout takes place every October 20th at 10:20am, to increase awareness and encourage earthquake preparedness. Everywhere across California, participants Drop, Cover and Hold On, a life-saving practice during an earthquake. In addition to observing the traditional earthquake drill, The Human Services Agency Mass Care & Shelter team, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services, and emergency personnel and staff from csuci ci_police partnered to exercise evacuation shelter capabilities. The County of Ventura has a comprehensive shelter plan, with locations strategically placed throughout the county to meet the needs of residents who find themselves displaced due to disaster-driven evacuations. To continually improve the County’s preparedness and disaster response capabilities, the Human Services Agency is expanding shelter location resources by introducing the Shelter Express Program.
