Deputy Yevhen “Eugene” Kostiuchenko January 30, 1973 – October 28, 2014 Deputy Eugene Kostiuchenko, an 11-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, was struck and killed while on a traffic stop on the shoulder of the 101 Freeway in the Camarillo. He had just completed an early morning traffic stop, and was walking back to his patrol vehicle when he was struck and killed by an intoxicated driver. Eugene worked with the Office of Emergency Services before becoming a deputy in 2007. Born in the Ukraine, Eugene achieved the rank of Captain in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, often working stateside with the FBI. Eugene proudly received his United States citizenship in 2006. #sheriffvc
