Narcotics Detective Donald E. Haynie March 7, 1940 – June 5, 1970 Detective Donald Haynie, a 5-year veteran, was shot and killed while attempting to make a narcotics arrest in Fillmore. As he and three other narcotics detectives entered the house of a suspected drug dealer, the suspect’s 78-year-old father shot Detective Haynie. The shooting was determined to be a misunderstanding, and the father was never prosecuted. Donald also served as a military police officer in the army. #sheriffvc
