This cold weather brings a winter wonderland ❄ to the backcountry in Ventura County! Copter 8 is one of five helicopters in the VCSO Air Unit. Each year, crews will go out on over 800 flights. Air Unit flight and response crews are trained in such specialties as night vision goggle operation, scuba diving, swift water rescue, and emergency medical procedures. The Air Unit is the only public safety aviation unit in the county and provides support for all local and state law enforcement and fire service agencies in the county. Missions vary between law enforcement operations, search and rescue (SAR), emergency medical services (EMS) and fire suppression response.
