Can your family safely escape a home fire in just 2 minutes? Don't wait until a fire occurs to find out. The americanredcross recommends families create a 2-minute home fire drill and pledge to practice it at least 2 times a year.
Tips for creating your home fire escape plan and practicing your 2-minute drill:
• Everyone in your household should know 2 ways to escape from each room in your home.
• Smoke is dangerous. Get low and go!
• Decide where to meet once you get outside.
• Get out and stay out. Never go back inside for people, pets or things.
• If a fire starts, you may have less than 2 minutes to get to safety. Time your fire drills and find out what's your fastest escape time.
• Test your smoke alarms monthly.
