We finally had the chance to talk-story with Luke Shepardson. Luke is a North Shore lifeguard and proud member of the Hawaiian Lifeguard Association. He’s also the 2023 winner of one of the biggest wave contests of the year, the Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational. The waves for the Eddie have to be so big, the contest which was in it’s 34th year, has only run 10 times. Luke joined surfing legends like John John Florence, Kelly Slater and Bruce Irons to win the Eddie, all on his breaks from his lifeguard tower at Waimea.
