In Hawaiʻi, #Makahiki is a four-month season of peace and celebration dedicated to the god Lono. During this time, it's common to say #Lonoikamakahiki to one another. Hawaiians celebrated Makahiki season with a harvest festival, feasting and giving thanks for the past year much like the American Thanksgiving. In gratitude, the Hawaiian would offer ho‘okupu (gifts) to Lono like fruits, vegetables, dogs, chickens, fish, and handmade crafts. These ho‘okupu were given with the hope that Lono would bless them with ua (rain) so the ‘āina (that which feeds you, land) would flourish. One of the Makahiki games that were commonly played is Hukihuki, which is similar to Tug Of War. Nakamakai Founder/CEO DuaneDesoto and his boys show us how to Hukihuki this Anywhere #AlohaFriday. Hopefully, you don't see any shoppers playing #hukihuki at the mall this #BlackFriday. ⁣ ⁣ #OluKai#AnywhereAloha#Hawaiian#Games#Hawaii#NaKamaKai
